From Milk to Table: Strategies for Successful Transitions
This course is designed to educate feeding-swallowing therapists about identifying common developmental stages related to transitioning from milk to table food and their implications for feeding-dysphagia therapy. The participants will learn to analyze potential feeding challenges and create individualized intervention plans using functional strategies to address specific needs in transitioning from drinking milk to eating solid foods.

Learning Outcomes: 

After completion of course participants will be able to-

  •  Point out common developmental stages and milestones related to transitioning from milk to table food and their implications for feeding therapy.
  • Demonstrate evidence-based techniques for promoting safe and effective sensory oral motor skills during the weaning process.
  • Apply strategies to educate families on responsive feeding practices that support healthy eating habits in infants and toddlers
  • Analyze potential feeding challenges and create individualized intervention plans to address specific needs in transitioning to solid foods.


Meet Our Presenter:

Cheryl Pelletier M.S., CCC-SLP, CLC has been an ASHA certified speech-language pathologist since 1987. She is the founder of Gnosh, Inc feeding-swallowing private practice. Over the last 21 years she has worked with infants and children in home-based and outpatient clinic settings using sensory oral-motor based therapy, co-treating with registered dietitians, PTs and OTs. She has presented at numerous staff education events in Southeastern Massachusetts and at ASHA annual convention. Child-centered "Kitchen Strategies" have been the cornerstone of her feeding-swallowing therapy practice. Food-based oral-sensory motor approaches, cooking experiences and food texture expansion are the foundations of this presentation.
